SEMINAR ON “NUCLEAR POWER PLANTS IN BANGLADESH : PROBLEM AND PROSPECTS” HELD AT MIST

 

A seminar on ‘NUCLEAR POWER PLANTS IN BANGLADESH: PROBLEM AND PROSPECTS’ was held at Military Institute of Science and Technology (MIST) on 14 October 2009. Honorable state minister, Ministry of Science,  Information and Communication Technology Architect Yeafesh Osman graced the occasion as chief guest. Honorable state minister, Ministry of Power, Energy and Mineral Resources, Brig General (Retd) Enamul Huq was also present as special guest. Dr. Rezwan khan, Vice Chancellor United International University (UIU), Dhaka, and Maj A.K.M Nazrul Islam, EME, presented the keynote papers in the seminar. Acting Commandant Brig General Habibur Rahman Kamal ,psc, senior military and civil  officials and students of MIST were present in the seminar. Problems and prospects of the economic implications, safety hazards, nuclear waste  management etc were discussed in the seminar. Speakers emphasized on the IPP based power plant for Bangladesh and suggested to invite nuclear fuel producing country to establish nuclear power plant on ‘operate and own principle’.
